I can’t express enough what an amazing hotel this is. I’ve stayed in countless hotels the roughly 40 years of my life and no other hotel compares to the feeling of home that I feel here in your hotel suite.
You have internet, you have a desk to put my laptop on, you have an epic bathroom with an epic amount of water pressure. You have big fluffy towels and a fluffy bed, you have a huge closet and countless drawers to put my stuff in. You have an epic balcony that sees the whole of Sabang beach.
You have a big refrigerator with ice already pre-made for us. You have a water cooler with both hot and cold water. You have a TV with huge speakers. You have an electric fan above the bed. You have CARPET in the room (OMG).
You have a modern kitchen with room to handle all my food activities. You have a huge bathroom space to put all my toiletries. You have a rug that absorbs my wet feet when I get out of the shower. You have a window in the shower that lets all my steamy air go out. You have a desk chair (super OMG). You have couches. You have clean, huge curtains. The floor is so clean I don’t feel icky walking with my bare feet.
There are electric outlets exactly where I need them to recharge my phone and laptop. You have countless light switches I can choose from to match the mood I’m in. And most of all? I haven’t had a more epic experience than your pork sinigang here at the hotel. Better than Max’s, Gerry’s Grill, and any other Filipino restaurant combined. Why? Because the pork sinigang has no fatty chunks! This is amazing. I scarfed down everything I could and was happily full after feasting on it. Better yet, the meal was brought to my bedroom so that after a long night out in Sabang, I had something to wake up to in the middle of the night.
And how can I forget to mention the impeccable service that your staff impressed onto us? From the welcome drink and snack, to the enthusiastic hellos that I constantly received from your numerous staff, to the amazing hospitality I felt from your front desk staff and the lovely front desk lady that I saw giving money to the poor lady walking with the umbrella looking for Christmas money.
This is truly an atmosphere and experience that I have never imagined coming from a hotel. Truly every single tiny thing has been thought of. I almost wanted to say I wish there was slippers provided in the bedroom for me to use, but I would have felt guilty wearing them seeing that there was clean carpet to walk on in the bedroom!
Honestly, I cannot think of a single thing that I would improve about this hotel. This was truly a five-star experience. I am gushing about what an epic hotel experience this has been. I can’t believe a place like this even exists. Thank you Lalaguna Villas for this truly epic experience. It has made my New Years vacation an unforgettable experience. I can’t imagine anyone saying anything else!
Following is a short explanation of our trip set up:
We usually do a combination of six diving days split between Apo Reef and Coron, but longer trips are possible, of course. Anilao and Verde Island can also be included in the itinerary. Trips “All Around Mindoro” are also possible in the months of April and May. For certified cave divers we can organize full charter trips to Paglugaban Cave, El Nido and combine those with Coron and Apo Reef. We only do Apo Reef trips on their own if it is a full charter (eight slots) and the minimum duration is four diving days.
We leave Puerto Galera in the late afternoon to arrive in Coron Bay early morning. This is when the payment starts. Diving days end after the last days diving. For example, a six-day diving trip (seven nights) will cost 1710 US $ per person (for six actual diving days) plus about 53 US $ Marine Park fee , if combined with Apo Reef. For Non-Divers we give a discount of 20 % for up to two of them. If more Non-Divers will join, we will have to charge full price for any additional ones to cover our costs.
Minimum trip duration is six diving days and six divers occupancy. If you prefer an exclusive trip you can charter the boat 2280 US $ per diving day up to a maximum of eight divers. All transfers to Puerto Galera from Manila, as well as accommodation and diving before and after the trip, can be arranged.
Costs per diver will then be 285 US $ per person per diving day inclusive of accommodation, tanks, weights, nitrox, food, mineral water, coffee, tea, soft drinks and beer! Minimum trip duration is six diving days/seven nights.
5 Oxygen storage tanks free (50 l 110 bar), additional tanks @ 40 US $ each. Helium US $ 0.06 per liter. Absorbent US $ 15 per kg. Rebreather Tanks (2 and/or 3 liters) 15 US $ per day. Booster pump rental for 200 US $ per week.
Extra costs: Marine park fees (Apo and Coron) of about 70 US $ per person and trip are also not included. Contact Us for more information
Online travel agencies often provide the bulk of bookings to many hotels and resorts. Revenue estimates for 2016 for OLTA’s are expected to surpass $40 billion dollars!
Hotels and airlines have mixed feelings towards OLTA’s. On one hand, the OLTA’s provide much-needed exposure to hotels and resorts by consolidating a destination’s available accommodations in one easy to browse webpage. On the other hand, OLTA’s take an average of 15% commission for this service.
Consolidated hotel reviews and ratings provided by the OLTA help the consumer make an informed decision on where to stay. One caveat, especially on TripAdvisor, Google, Yelp and Facebook reviews, is that the reviewer doesn’t necessarily have any experience staying at the resort in question! Why would someone write a review if they have not stayed at the resort? Personal vendettas and attempts to inflate/deflate a hotel’s rating to gain an advantage in search are typical reasons, as the highest rated resorts are generally listed first when searched. For these reasons alone, an objective person may consider dropping the highest and lowest reviews of any one location to get a true feel for the experience they will expect to receive at their destination.
Rate parity is an issue forced on the hoteliers by all major OLTA’s. In other words, all OLTA’s require the best price! A hotel can’t even make a private offer to a prior guest who used an agent in a prior booking without being punished. It seems like collusion, and well, it is. The problem is that if a hotel doesn’t want to play by the rate parity rules, the OLTA will simply reduce their ranking in search or drop the hotel from their listings all-together. This may not matter to a large chain like Hilton Hotels, but it certainly greatly affects the mom and pop or boutique hotel. Many boutique hotels receive 30% to 50% of their bookings from one major OLTA. If they were dropped, it would be devastating to their business.
Many OLTA’s keep the hotel’s money for up to 30-days putting an unnecessary burden on the hotel’s cash flow. After all, there is a lot of interest to be had on $40 billion dollars of commissions!
What does this mean to the prospective hotel guest? Invariably, the OLTA’s put a stranglehold on the special offers and extras that can be provided to a guest who books directly with the resort. Additionally, many OLTA’s have more restrictive cancelation policies than the hotels themselves! If you have an emergency preventing you from making your trip, you may find yourself paying for a stay that you can’t complete. The hotel manager may have no discretion in forgiving or lessening the penalty for a no-show due to the OLTA’s stricter policies.
Note, some OLTA’s show prices with taxes and fees, others do not. Others have a markup that you don’t know about until you checkout. OLTA’s try to mask the true price from consumers in order to make it make it hard to compare the true price before fully completing your shopping cart.
Additionally, please remember that many OLTA’s prohibit hotels from reaching out to guests booked through the OLTA. This can make it harder for you to book transportation, diving and local events through the hotel concierge. Remember to contact your hotel directly after ou book, especially if you have location questions or transportation concerns. This can also lead to your dissatisfaction (bad review) of a hotel when it isn’t really their fault. They simply had no way to contact you to help with your pre-arrival.
We recommend always booking directly with your destination hotel after making a decision based on various OLTA data. It is our belief that 95% of hotel reservation desks will “price match” any OLTA price that you can show in a screenshot with an additional 5% off. It’s a win-win for both the guest and the hotelier. Try it and let us know how it goes for you.
