I will never forget the task of finding a great location for my very small wedding. At that time, I was living in America. We really wanted a great tropical beach wedding without breaking the bank. I do know that the Philippines never came up as a suggestion as the perfect wedding destination. Now, that could be because we are talking about 2002, well before the major travel agents and wedding planners were web experts. After evaluating what I know about the Philippines in 2015, I say it’s a darned shame that we didn’t get the opportunity to evaluate the Philippines as a perfect wedding destination.
The Knot’s 2014 Real Weddings survey found that the average wedding spend is now $31,213. And that doesn’t even include the cost of the honeymoon. The average in 2013, for comparison, was $29,858. Wow!
Be sure to give Lalaguna Villas a chance to quote your wedding, elopement or honeymoon. You will be blown away by the savings. For example, look at the prices for photographers in the USA.
You will find that a local photographer from the island of Mindoro will cost you about $500 with all the same bells and whistles. The savings from an American photographer’s price just bought you one round trip ticket to our resort!
Now on to the church. I know in the USA the costs can run from $250 to $1500 or more for use of the church, its staff, musicians and clergy. With some advanced notice, we can get you married in a church for what would be a generous donation of only $100! The fee will even be the same if you decide bring the justice of the peace to a location that you desire. Get married on our rooftop with panoramic ocean views! It’s still going to cost you only $100! Not too shabby!
Flowers you say? We’ve got you covered here. As you can probably imagine, the Philippines, with its location in the tropics, has some of the most beautiful flowers you have ever seen. Rose petals, custom bouquets and boutonnieres can be made to suit your wishes at a cost that is a fraction of what you would pay in the USA, or most anywhere for that matter. You can count on a flower budget of under $200.
Would you like live background music at your wedding or a full band at your reception? As you may or may not know, Filipinos have been the house band in popular tourist destinations all over the world. They can often be found rocking cruise ships from sea to sea. In fact, Arnell Pineda, the replacement lead singer in Journey is from the Philippines. If there is one thing you can say about Filipino musicians it is that they are uber-talented. Here’s the thing. Did you know that a rock band that plays in a bar on a Friday or Saturday night MIGHT make $150 for the whole band for three full sets of music? They must really love the music to play for so little. With that said, know that music for your wedding or reception that would cost thousands of dollars in the USA, can be had for well under $400 on your special day. If your desire is to have a DJ, the same low rates apply!
Here’s the kicker, guaranteed to make you think long and hard about having your wedding in the Philippines. Did you know that the average cost for a caterer in the USA is $85 per person, not including drinks! That seems expensive right? Without knowing your expectations for your menu, we can tell you that when we often hold parties and events here at Lalaguna Villas resort usually charging $17 per person for a full BBQ buffet, excluding alcohol. We can do a sit-down dinner to your specifications and generally still keep the price under $30. Alcohol won’t break your budget either! At Lalaguna Villas, beers and mixed drinks are regularly priced between $1.50 and $3.
